Past sparkling lakes, through colourful forests and hilly wine-growing landscapes in the valley or up to rugged peaks and lush alpine meadows with a fabulous panorama. Your active holiday in the south of South Tyrol will certainly be varied for you and your hiking boots. And that from March to November, because that's how long the hiking season lasts here!

Depending on your mood and fitness, you can choose between countless spring, summer and autumn hikes in South Tyrol. With all this variety, it was not easy for us to list our favourite hikes. We are here for you with numerous individual hiking suggestions and tips on highlights in Appiano, Bolzano, Caldaro and the surrounding area. You can borrow the appropriate hiking map from us free of charge.

Along the road, the villages of Nalles, Terlano, Andriano, Appiano, Caldaro, Termeno, Cortaccia , Magrè, Cortina, Salorno, Ora, Montagna, Egna, Vadena, Bronzolo as well as the provincial capital and wine town of Bolzano invite you to enjoy and experience wine. Around Bolzano ripens the velvety Sciava "St. Magdalener" and the characterful "Lagrein Dunkel", in the Oltradige-Bassa Atesina excellent white wines and the famous Sciava "Kalterer See", in Termeno the fine-spicy-aromatic "Gewürztraminer".

When the South Tyrolean sun really spoils us in summer and the temperatures climb higher and higher in the afternoon, what could be better than jumping into the cool water. South Tyrol's lake landscape has a lot to offer: Lake Monticolo, Lake Caldaro, Lake Fié and much more! Here is a small selection of our favourite bathing lakes in our immediate vicinity.

The municipality with the most castles in Europe
Around 800 castles and palaces can be found in South Tyrol, most of them in the castle region of Appiano.

Golf in Appiano
The 9-hole course "Blue Monster" in Appiano is the newest golf course in South Tyrol and was opened in 2015 on a total area of 10,000 m. The typical landscape was preserved by natural water areas as a defining feature of this golf course. Due to the many water hazards, small lakes and rivers, the terrain has developed as a new home for many bird species. On a hill overlooking St-Michael Appiano, lies the property Freudenstein Castle. The Golf Academy Schloss Freudenstein offers on the scale where driving range with pitching area and putting green and practice with two holes a diverse course and training program.
